A.Vogel's Boldocynara is an excellent herbal remedy derived from the artichoke, which stimulates the liver as well as bile production. Together with a good liver diet and plenty of water, there is every reason to expect the liver to return to full health.
As the regulator of health, a healthy liver guards against catastrophic illness. Just think what we would do without this important detoxifying and metabolising organ; it wouldn't take long for toxins to build up and destroy us from within! One glass of carrot juice, a slice of toast with a little butter and a soupspoon of wheat germ (dry or in carrot juice).
Vegetable soup, brown rice or potatoes boiled in their skins and chicory or raw carrot salad - or any other raw salad vegetable (the bitter kind preferably) - steamed vegetables may be added. AVOID all fried and sweet dishes.
The lunch menu can be varied as follows:
First day: brown rice, fennel root and a mixed salad.
Second day: potatoes boiled in skins with cottage cheese and a little fresh butter, a salad.
Third day: vegetable soup, sandwiches made with rye or whole wheat bread spread with a little butter and yeast extract; top them with onion, garlic and sliced tomatoes, a mixed salad.
Soup made with oats, barley or brown rice with a few vegetables added and a mixed salad seasoned with lemon juice or sour milk - but never with vinegar.
For the sake of variety, sandwiches and different salads may be served, followed by cereal coffee (Bambu) with a little milk. AVOID FRUIT while the liver is out of order.
Other ways to look after the liver are to avoid vigorous movements, which shake the liver up, and to keep the feet and abdomen warm at all times.
